Joni - the unravelling VS1 She came from the land of the maple leaf singing like a nightingale telling stories of many lovers lost city nights, Chelsea mornings, distant lights far off Joni drank my thoughts in cases she opened up my eye s to blue She took me off to exotic places 'Come' she said 'I know the way' for you VS2 Joni sang her life like an ingenue songs for the ages --- a song for blue She hooked my heart ----on her every line Then back into the sea -----she threw me Joni drew pictures right across my page she cried for freedom, for the slaves Joni stood, a siren on my rocky shore naked in the crashing waves VS3 Joni sang Coyote calls, strummed jazzman chords, played eclectic, electric ---six string sounds 'Sex kills' she whispered with her every breath And where I stood, she stole the ground She painted songs, she sang mountain ranges ---she coloured every circle game Joni stood a siren on my rocky shore, naked in the crashing waves INTERLUDE Joni held my heart in her birdsong, singing 'It's the unravelling, ----it's the unravelling' VS4 Joni took us down to Yasgurs' farm She told us ---- we are all stardust million year old carbon, just another part in the devils’ bargain Joni painted vistas right across my walls She led me from my lonely room She walked me down a long and winding road We went travelling travelling ...travelling OUTRO Joni stood,---a siren on my rocky shore, naked in the crashing waves she stood like a siren on my rocky shore, naked in the crashing waves ©Laurence Balmer 2020

Future Blues 03:28
The future blues. ©Laurence Balmer 2020 Could it be the rules are changing? Now some bridges can’t be crossed? Is there a light left in the tunnel? Has the room to move been locked? Can you tell me what’s our future? Is the good life all but lost? Has change become a luxury? Can we pay the cost? Can we see a need for action now? Or will we just wait and see? Can our lives be what we make of them Will we just say “ces’t la vie” Can you tell me what’s our future? Do you give it any thought? We better search ourselves for answers Cause the answers can’t be bought Is there something you can offer? Is there something you can say Is it mind or is it muscle? Can you maybe show the way? Are we just waiting for the answers now? Somebody else to lead the way Will we leave it up to leaders who Don’t hear what we say What’s our future ?.......... I got the future blues Each and every action It carries its own weight Can we take some action now That will keep us in this place Can you tell me, what’s our future? Will we leave it all to fate? But the children of the future Need some action right away. What’s our future ?.......... I got the future blues… The need for greed just .. leaves so many empty plates.

Love Lights 03:47
Love Lights © Laurence Balmer 2020 we came together when our love lights showed amber it seemed like they WERE’NT gonna change you needed someone who cared so much more for you —- I surely needed the same you’d been messed around by him she’d been untrue to me our love had seen some better days we could not gamble what was left in our hearts cause we’ed paid out and did not get change loves’ stuck on amber as lovers head for home alone — home all alone feelin’ strange two separate feelings had closed off their dealings — hoping prospects would be better when those love lights changed we could not see enough in each others eyes to help forget those stormy days Cause we both needed somone who cared so much more but you and I, just could not make that change loves’ stuck on amber as lovers head for home alone — home all alone feelin’ strange two separate feelings had closed off their dealings — hoping prospects would be better when those love lights changed

This Truckin' Life © Laurence Balmer 2020 I spend most of my life without my wife sittin' on the seat of my pants over 34 wheels on nerves of steel I watch towns go by like chances. The heat of the diesel spins the wheels around it's rubber to road and town to town I spend my life doin' all I can to keep the shinny side up & the greasy side down. CHORUS This trucking Life yeah that's my lot and it seems with every road that I've got to go a little further to make it pay I'm gonna cross that borderline some day its no easy life spending days on the road this countryside is just far too wide from state to state they're always saying' "you're late" and I say the same whenever I get paid I spend overdue breaks for Roadhouse steaks where the food's served cold but the prices are hot this life of mine's just as hard as it seems this truckin' life yeah that's my lot CHORUS This trucking Life yeah that's my lot and it seems with every road that I've got to go a little further to make it pay I'm gonna cross that borderline some day This trucking Life yeah that's my lot this white line fever's all I've got when payday comes its always the same ten for the diesel & a dollar for me gonna make it on home some day gonna make it on home some day

Heatwave 05:00
Heatwave ©Laurence Balmer. Once we felt a heatwave Roll across a cold wet Sunday As we watched the cold clouds passing by Beyond the window panes Once we felt a heatwave Once we felt a heatwave Across a dinner table laid As We watched the ships go passing by And The harbour lights at play Once we felt a heatwave - Chorus Stay, please stay, our feelings said Still someone had to leave There was no bridge across our cloudy bay Something, someone, somewhere else was calling you away Once we felt a heatwave I learn some things misunderstood How much there is to grow I learn to sing, I try to speak That Once we felt a heatwave
